Averted Death[]

Biography[]

Christopher Rockwell[]

Rockwell doesn't actually care whether his stories are true or not, all that matters to him is money. He is a businessman first, who uses his celebrity to sell things. If people believe his stories, he can sell them anything.

Rockwell asserts that Travelers are infiltrating American politics, falsely accusing senatorial candidate Daniel Sosa of being one. However, a few domestic terrorists believe his words, and spray Daniel and Katie Sosa with bullets outside a supermarket in a drive-by shooting. Daniel survives while Katie does not.

Rockwell gets further material for his show when his assistant Crystal obtains a copy of the core team's confession that has been disappearing from the internet. However, he also gets a death threat video from an East European hacktivist group promising retaliation for Katie's death.

Unfazed, Rockwell uses the death threat and the Sosa shooting to claim that Travelers are merely cutting ties with a compromised operative. FBI agents Grant MacLaren and Joanne Yates enter his studio during taping and announce they're there to protect him, as the FBI has deemed the threat credible. He plans to get on The Drew Clarkson Show the next night to discuss these developments.

Inside Rockwell's house as he prepares for his talk show appearance, MacLaren tries to dissuade him from fanning the flames by divulging he's one of the Travelers Rockwell maligns. Rockwell assumes he's trying to sell him something and doesn't take him seriously.

While Rockwell's having finishing touches done to his makeup in the studio, MacLaren once more discourages him from appearing by fact-checking the Sosa case. He's not a Traveler because the one who shot his former boss Ted Bishop is Carly Shannon, the woman in the confession video Rockwell's planning to show around. MacLaren and Rockwell's makeup artist Marcy Warton were also in archival footage that day. MacLaren gives him 12 seconds to decide, but Rockwell uses the time to give him a big "fuck you", in case what he's saying is actually true.

Daniel bursts into the makeup room intending to kill Rockwell. Armed with a revolver and a smartphone, he tries to force Rockwell to admit he was lying. The television host is unrepentant and looks for validation from the Travelers who just confessed to him a few moments ago, but they stay silent. When Sosa cocks his gun, an incoming Traveler starts overwriting Rockwell.

Traveler (Number Unknown)[]

The new Traveler in Rockwell's body is greeted by the core team present. Trevor Holden gives him a device for his team's Engineer before he goes off to the set. Instead of continuing to spew Rockwell's previous views, the Traveler acknowledges his role in spreading fake news and getting people killed. He pledges to donate over five million dollars to state charities and use his program in positive ways.
