Travelers Wiki

This episode starts with the team capturing a few faction members and bringing them to a "trial."

Grant and his wife are planning their future and looking forward to their hopes for their new child and new house. Their relationship is going well.

Phillip talks with Carla and it is reveled that Phillip's role as historian is becoming more difficult as the future has changed so much his information is often wrong. Phillip is trying to find a new role for himself given how out-of-date his information is. Phillip also realizes they have money problems as their investments have reduced in value significantly, and they are in serious financial trouble. A problem given he can no longer predict the future accurately. We see a clear example with a horse race as it goes differently in the new future and find this is typical for Phillip now.

In a church, the 3 faction members the team captured receive their "trial." It took about 10 seconds with the first few being announcing the start of the trial and the rest being the time for an over-write. Three programmers were sent as overwrites by the director and immediately charge Grace Day with conspiracy against the director.

The title 0027 is now clearly revealed as this is a trial for traveler 0027, Grace Day.

The trial reminds us of Grace's history and functions somewhat as a reminder of key aspects of the director and of Grace Day. Grace is completely unrepentant and insists she did nothing wrong and saved the director. She insists she saved the director and Marcy and did what was right. Those accusing her agree with her on all the facts, so the question becomes if and how she should be punished for her actions.

Trevor accepts responsibility for his actions in trying to save the original Grace Day. He isn't punished or put on trial. It is revealed that his actions delayed when Grace could come here. Traveler 0027 locked out all travelers -- causing damage to the plan-- so she could take the the host. Traveler 0027 to took the host of Grace day argues she made the right choice.

David is invited by a friend to a rave (basically people dancing to music). He and Marcy still are not fully in sync. She is clearly trying, but off. She tries to sleep with him, but David says no because it appears she is just doing it to see what it will feel like, not out of love. David's friend at the rave goes to the bathroom at the same time that the quantum frame (which happens to be at the rave) turns everyone there into faction hosts. She survives the event by being in the bathroom, only for them to try to kill her by simulating an overdose. As that is happening, she calls David and screams for help. David is with Marcy and they both rush to try to help her.

Everyone has left the rave except David's friend who is laying on the floor. The faction tried to kill her with an overdose of fentanyl (an opiod that when taken at over 270 times its normal dose can cause death by respiratory depression). David gives her a shot of naloxone (Naloxone is a mostly inert opiod that essentially replaces the Fentanyl and blocks its effects).

The trial isn't going well for Grace. All the new facts and the tone of the story support the idea that traveler 0027 was just trying to save the director through saving Marcy. Still, traveler 0027 is completely unrepentant and argues she did good, while those accusing her see what she did as wrong. Grace Day is made to look more and more human. Trevor buys her fries and privately says he supports her. When he gives her a hug, it is made pretty clear how she appreciates human contact and lacks social skills. Her response to the hug is asking if Trevor has a regular sex partner. She is shown as that out of touch in her trial as well. It is made clear she is a well meaning person, who lacks social understanding. She argues her actions saved billions of lives, the director, and the future. She is technically probably correct, but that wasn't exactly a moving argument.

Grace is found guilty and the team is upset by this but can't do anything. Grace is brought to the director for judgement. Grace talks directly, through time and space, to the director. The director talks though weak old people on oxygen. She tells the director she didn't betray him. The director says to be patient and that it is working to determine who is the traitor. Grace had expected to be written over.

Meanwhile, Marcy is offered by a programmer a chance to gain back the parts of herself lost in the reboot. The programmer drives her to "ops." Ops turns out to be an operations center for the faction. The quantum framework is there. The programmer's team is dead. He pulls a weapon and the good guys show up. Programmer 0029, was re-written. The quantum frame is destroyed.

Back to Grace, she is talking with the Director. She and the director clearly have a close relationship. She admits to interrupting the grand plan, causing Ellis to be dead, and taking a host without permission. She says, "but I can never go back." The director says not going back is more than enough punishment and says to her "I shall miss you." It is clear the director and Grace love each other, at least as close friends, maybe as something more.
