Ted is a former orderly who used to take care of Marcy Warton during her stay at a mental patient ward. He treated her with kindness and respect, unlike his fellow orderly and senior Drake.
After Marcy completed a simple reading exercise, Ted congratulated her and encouraged her to continue. However, Drake arrived to take her to "treatment" with Vincent Ingram, which Ted already promised Marcy wouldn't happen that day. Ted put up a token protest but ultimately couldn't do anything. He promised Marcy he would be there when it's over.
Afterward, he explained to Marcy he needed the job. He gave her ice cream to make amends, advising her not to let it melt, although Simon Teller ate it.
Sometime later, Ted saw Drake trying to forcefeed Marcy. He warned Drake he'll report him to their boss Dr. Carroll. Drake accused him of leering at Marcy's ass whenever she walks away, though Ted denied it. After further provocation Ted punched Drake in the face but immediately regretted it. Drake punched back, knocking Ted to the floor. Ted was then fired, leaving Marcy with no allies until her eventual abandonment from the ward.
