Rick Hall's Team was a Traveler team composed of Rick Hall (Team Leader), Luca Shun (Tactician), Carter (Historian), and later Kyle (Historian). They abandoned their Protocol 5 lives in favor of being full-time Travelers dedicated to the Grand Plan, but resulted in them becoming wanted criminals. They arrived in the 21st century as a full five-person team, but lost two members over time, including their Medic. Their Historian Kyle was sent as reinforcements later. Missions[]

Blow up a Bridge[]

Hall and Luca once blew up a bridge in the middle of the night that was fated to collapse during rush hour the next morning, saving hundreds of lives. Law enforcement didn't see it that way and hunted for them. Hall and Luca holed up in a juvenile hall at 532 Industrial Parkway for days before the heat on them died down. (S3E06: Philip)

Trade with Russian Team[]

Hall, Luca, and Carter waited for a Russian Traveler team at a dock at 65 Heward Drive. The Russians' Historian was dead, so Hall's team was instructed to supply them with cash in exchange for a component. However, the Russians got greedy and doublecrossed them. All the Russians were killed in the firefight while Luca and Carter were critically injured.

Grant MacLaren was instructed to provide support to Hall's team at their own Ops. He called Marcy Warton to assess their injuries, who then deemed Luca saveable but Carter not. Hall made the call to sacrifice Carter to save Luca. (S1E04: Hall)

Component Handoff[]

Part 2 of the preceding mission was to hand over the device, a key component of the x-ray laser to be used against Helios-685, to another Traveler team for testing. However, it was damaged during the firefight. When their hideout was traced by FBI agent Walt Forbes, Hall torched it before relocating himself and Luca to the Core Traveler Team's Ops.

Trevor Holden fixed the device, but Hall attempted to claim leadership over both his team and MacLaren's team. MacLaren set him and Luca up to be arrested by FBI while Trevor and Carly Shannon completed the handoff with Carol in their stead. (S1E04: Hall)

Meet New Historian[]

Following their early release from prison, Hall and Luca prepared for the arrival of their new Historian in the body of Trevor's friend Kyle, scoping out Lester High School for the youth. Luca later intercepted Traveler 5532 at his T.E.L.L. while Hall was on a solo mission to save Kathryn MacLaren's life but at the cost of her baby. Hall, Luca, and Kyle then embarked on their first mission together. (S2E09: Update)

Protect the 53rd President of the USA[]

Sometime later, Hall's team snatched Anna Hamilton off the street to protect her until 4:00 PM that day, with Hall posing as an FBI agent in an attempt to secure her cooperation. Anna, presently 8 years old, was destined to become the 53rd President of the USA, which made her a target for the Faction. With the tactical support of MacLaren's team minus Marcy, scores of Faction soldiers were killed or overwritten, and the mission was accomplished. (S2E10: 21C)

Save Kidnapped Historians[]

A group of Historians was captured by the Faction, Kyle among them. Hall and Luca went after him, but it's revealed Kyle and Luca defected to the Faction. They shot Hall and left him for dead, to be found by MacLaren's team who's also looking for their Historian Philip Pearson.

Thanks to a black box hooked up to a dying Hall, he recalled the address of the juvie hall hideout he used with Luca, figuring the hostages will also be there. MacLaren's team mounted a successful rescue, resulting in the deaths of Luca and Kyle. With Hall succumbing to his injuries soon after hearing the good news, the entirety of his team was no more. (S3E06: Philip)

Notes[]

  • Luca Shun and Carter's Traveler roles are not specified, although several data points shed light on the matter.
    • Given that Hall is the Team Leader of his own team and the Medic is known to be dead, Luca and Carter are either Tacticians or Engineers. With Carter dead in S1E04: Hall, he could also be a Historian given that Traveler 5532 will be sent to fulfill the Historian role in S2E09: Update.
    • As Rick Hall's Team was instructed to supply the Russian team with cash in S1E04: Hall, it can be assumed they have a Historian, and given they are later sent another Historian after Carter's death, by inference Carter could be a Historian. A component was damaged that needed repairs, but none of the team have any expertise in it, which could mean neither Luca nor Carter are Engineers. Given that Luca functions more as the group's muscle in subsequent appearances, it is highly likely he is a Tactician.
    • In S2E10: 21C, Grant obliquely refers to the existence of Hall's Tactician when he tells him he should listen to his Tactician. As the team is composed of Hall (Team Leader), Kyle (Historian), and Luca at that time, by elimination Luca is definitively a Tactician.
