Marion and Greg are the parents of Stephen, Philip Pearson's best friend who died of a heroin overdose.
After Stephen's funeral Philip approaches the grieving parents. Marion is angry, considering Philip could've called 911 to save her son but didn't. She slaps off Philip's flowers and apology. The young man's demeanor leads to Marion to assume he went to them high, further provoking her. Greg glowers at Philip, but ultimately tries to calm Marion down and restrain her from walloping him.
Sometime later, Marion responds to a doorbell outside her house. She finds no one there and nothing but an envelope full of money lodged at her door. In an attempt to make amends, Philip enlisted his lawyer Ray Green to furtively drop off the package to Stephen's parents.
