Dr. Delaney is a scientist employed by Van Huizen Corporation. She is in charge of the antimatter research division, frequently interfacing with counterparts in the US Military. She has a keen understanding of high-level physics, an abrasive personality, and a penchant for tawdry nicknames.
Background[]
The historical record painted Delaney as a mass murderer, crediting her as the creator of the most destructive weapon in history. A military truck loaded with 10.3 grams of antimatter from her facility exploded en route, killing 11,000 people. The incident sparked an arms race which ultimately became a contributing factor to humanity's decline in the future.
Grant MacLaren argues she was merely the military's scapegoat, although Carly Shannon still has a low opinion of her, giving her the charm of a "foaming yeast vat." (S1E02: Protocol 6)
Biography[]
Antimatter Containment[]
During a blackout, Delaney objects to Major Gleason taking the antimatter stored in her facility, citing safety concerns and potential containment failure. She thinks he just wants to weaponize the material.
The next day, Delaney receives a call from Gleason, who suspects she didn't actually produce any antimatter. Thanks to the Core Traveler Team swiping the antimatter with a conventional bomb, the historical explosion did not occur but still put Gleason's truck driver into a coma. Delaney doesn't appreciate being accused or being called by someone she's not expecting to hear from again.

Later that day, a coolant leak springs up in the facility, causing her to throw up her arms in exasperation. She determines the leak was caused remotely and fixes it, though she anticipates the culprit will be coming to her facility and waits accordingly. Thinking "Major Dickless" is behind this, she points a gun at the core team when they arrive, demanding to know what they're doing. They explain they took the antimatter from Gleason's truck and are there to put it back in a safer storage unit as their own portable containment unit is failing. She's incredulous at the things she's seeing and hearing, but slowly accepts the situation given proof.
Gleason arrives at the facility demanding to speak with her. MacLaren persuades Delaney to send the Major away, and she does it by swallowing her professional pride: she claims there's no antimatter, at best Gleason drove off with 1 milligram of it, and she "lied" to avoid losing her funding. The Major believes her and leaves, still thinking her research is on the right path. Trevor Holden manages to transfer the antimatter back before the portable unit completely fails.

When the crisis has settled, Delaney demands to know what's really going on. "Blondie" (her term for Marcy Warton) looks too young to be a specialist and the technology "Beefcake" (her term for Trevor) was carrying doesn't exist. MacLaren assures her he's really FBI, and gives her his contact details as it won't be the last she hears from them. (S1E02: Protocol 6)
Helios-685[]
One day Delaney receives a text from MacLaren that they will come in, and shortly two men escort her out of Van Huizen. She assumes they were MacLaren's men, though they actually work for Gleason. The Major suspects Delaney is selling her antimatter to foreign powers, and wants to interrogate her. She asks for her lawyer, but is denied. She doesn't give him any answers, only poking holes in his reasoning and reiterating how much of an idiot he is.
Because Delaney put a biometric lock in her antimatter containment unit, MacLaren's operation at her lab cannot proceed. Philip Pearson's hacking attempts at the lock trigger an alarm sent to her tablet; he hacks its camera and finds her. When Gleason's men brings her the tablet she assumes his goons were tampering with the containment unit and don't know what they're doing.
MacLaren proceeds to retrieve her from Gleason. He distracts Gleason as an FBI agent while his other teammates sneak Delaney out. Back at her lab the truth is revealed to her: she has been working with Travelers from the future who want to use the x-ray laser installed on the roof to deflect a civilization-ending asteroid. Her physics background allows her to process the concepts better than the average layperson, and she realizes the matter-antimatter detonation powering the laser will destroy her facility. After considering the risks, she lifts the lock, and sits for a while to ruminate further on the implications of what she just heard.
Bloom considers Delaney to be useful to the future, and asks MacLaren to take her with his team away from the premises before they get caught in the blast. A safe distance away after the explosion, Delaney asks how will they know if they succeeded, but the Travelers also have no answers. (S1E06: Helios-685)
Prior to the exposure of Traveler operations to government agencies, Delaney is the only person known to be privy to their existence who wasn't memory wiped or turned into a Traveler.
Trivia[]
- Numerous actors in Travelers also had roles in the Stargate franchise, both of which had Brad Wright as an executive producer. Kyra Zagorsky portrayed Ara in Stargate Atlantis and Tasia in Stargate Universe.
