Carter (Traveler Number Unknown) was a member of Rick Hall's Team. He was either the team's Historian, Tactician, or Engineer. Like the rest of his team, he abandoned his host's life to live as a full-time Traveler, though it made him a wanted criminal in the process.
Averted Death[]
Nothing is known about the circumstances that turned him into a Traveler.
Biography[]
When his team was instructed to trade cash with a Russian team for a component, Carter waited with Rick Hall and Luca Shun at a dock, goofing off with his teammates as surveilled by nearby FBI. However, they were betrayed by the Russians, resulting in a firefight. Carter shot a Russian fleeing in a Mercedes, but it collided with the car door he was using as a shield, sandwiching him. After recovering he helped Luca up to the Russian car, provided covering fire against FBI agents Grant MacLaren and Walt Forbes to delay their pursuit, then fled the scene with his team.
Back at their Ops, Carter attempted to stabilize Luca on a table, but the latter was losing too much blood. Grant arrived on instructions to assist, and when he was surprised at hearing inter-Traveler violence Carter snarked that he must be new, as this was not an unusual occurrence. However, he started coughing, and realized he sustained internal injuries from the shootout.
Marcy Warton assessed the injured Travelers, and found Carter's injuries were terminal: his lungs were damaged, and that's why he was coughing blood. Hall didn't want to believe it as he trusted Carter's hardy constitution. But Carter was degenerating fast, forcing him to slump to the sofa, and soon his blood would turn too septic to be of use. Faced with a choice to save Luca using Carter's blood or let both of them die, Hall comforted Carter in his last moments before choosing Luca.
Carter's body was left behind their Ops as Forbes managed to trace ownership of the address to Hall. Hall rigged the warehouse to explode as the FBI converged on the scene.
