Travelers Wiki

Dr. Amanda Myers is a physicist at Humphries University. She and her professional (and romantic) partner, Dr. Samantha Burns, are responsible for designing the singularity engine, a highly advanced alternative energy source. They were originally among the casualties of the Helios-685 asteroid impact on the eastern seaboard, though they lived on as the disaster was prevented by the Travelers.

In 2018, the singularity engine successfully passes peer review. Amanda brings a bottle of champagne to Samantha's lecture hall and toasts with her, telling her to celebrate the win as their research is due to be published within the day. However, she warns Samantha not to jinx it, when the latter realizes and says out loud it is potentially Nobel Prize material. She tells Samantha they should not get ahead of themselves, and the caution turns out to be warranted.

A Traveler specialist in their field of research approaches Samantha and proceeds to mathematically prove that the singularity engine is a bad idea that will kill 1.4 billion people instantly 20 years after publication of their research. Samantha is disappointed but convinced, and promises to fill Amanda up on the details later as she's not there at the time. (S3E08: Archive)
