Averted Death[]

Donner was supposed to have died during the bombing. His improvised explosive went off by the gas line as intended, but while he's still within the blast radius.

Biography[]

Traveler 4022 Future History[]

Traveler 4022 was specifically trained to be able to defuse Aaron Donner's own bomb, rehearsing "a thousand times". However, this training proved to be ineffective as it blew up anyway.

Aaron Donner[]

Donner was a racial Christian man. He'd connected with Mindy, a webcam girl, who'd do shows for him up to twice a day. It escalated to Donner purchasing presents for her which he sent to her address. The company Mindy worked for discouraged this so she never mentioned it or returned the favor until Donner was eventually banned from doing this.

Following this, Donner told Mindy that what they were doing was sinful and that justice would come. He built an improvised explosive device, inscribed with "Ezekiel 15:17" on one side, which was set to explode outside of her workplace. However, Donner discovered the timer apparently malfunctioned. He was in the middle of diagnosing the problem when the incoming Traveler's T.E.L.L. started overwriting him.

Traveler 4022[]

When Traveler 4022 couldn't defuse the bomb, he ran away. He hid in a restaurant kitchen until Grant MacLaren found him and offered him help as he was injured. Instead, Traveler 4022 knocked out MacLaren, destroyed his comm, and fled the scene.

Walt Forbes eventually tracked him down and brought him to the FBI for questioning. MacLaren continued to offer him help, as a Traveler, until 4022 claimed not to know what the agent's talking about.

Donner eventually got representation from the lawyer Hickman. In exchange for witness protection, he offered to leak the existence of the Traveler program, thinking the Defense Department might be intrigued with his intel. The District Attorney's office granted his request for a meeting.

Behind closed doors with ADA Peckham, her colleagues and security personnel Donner confessed to being a Traveler, and also outed MacLaren as one. He promised Traveler operational specifics, protocols, communication methods, everything in exchange for living above ground. Unfortunately for him, everyone in the room was a Traveler, and they promptly charged him with treason.

During 4022's hearing he argued the Director didn't give him enough time to defuse the bomb, and showed himself unwilling to die because of it. His peers found his actions unjustified as he also tried to betray them all. 4022 was found guilty and his punishment was death by immediate overwrite. He struggled in vain against it.

Traveler 4024[]

Traveler 4024 says very little, invoking Protocol 2. He deems prison to be likely better than where he came from, saying conditions may actually be worse as a result of the Traveler program. He enjoys seeing the sunlight.

Donner escapes the death penalty and is sentenced to life in prison, with the chance of parole. He becomes bunkmates with Traveler 2587. 4024 discourages him from breaking Protocol 2, as he still trusts in the Grand Plan and considers himself on-mission.
